Pinworms are Intestinal Parasites
Pinworms usually occur in the large intestine but sometimes are also found in the small intestine, the stomach, or farther up the gastrointestinal tract. After the male fertilizes the eggs, the female travels to the anus, deposits the eggs on the skin near the anal opening, and usually dies. Movement of the worm on the skin causes excessive itching. Eggs, transferred beneath the fingernails by scratching, are passed onto the mouth, from which the eggs or larvae make their way to the intestine. This life cycle usually requires about 15 to 43 days. Pinworms are quite easy to get. They usually spread from one child to another, and the eggs can be picked up by children's fingers whilst playing. Eggs can survive on a child's skin for several hours. They can easily survive for 2 weeks on clothes, bedding and toys. If the eggs are on the child's hands or toys, and he/she puts their fingers or toys in the mouth, the tiny eggs enter their bodies. The eggs continue to stay in the upper part of the intestine until they hatch. After they hatch, the worms move down the length of the intestine, and then finally out the anus where they lay eggs. An itchy bottom is a common sign of pinworm infection.
Most pinworm infections are however, mild and easily treated. Doctors may prescribe a single chewable tablet of a medicine called mebendazole. About two weeks later, a second tablet is taken. Another kind of medicine recommended by doctors is pyrantel. This is also taken in two doses about two weeks apart. Even if only one child in a family has pinworms, it is important that everyone in the household be treated with the pinworm medicine at the same time, even if they don't show any signs of pinworm infection. All the sheets, blankets, towels and clothing in the house should be washed in hot water, and everyone's fingernails (which might house the worm eggs) should be thoroughly cleaned and preferably cut short.

Billy Mays found dead at Florida home
Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said linking Mays' death to the landing would "purely be speculation." She said Mays' family members didn't report any health issues with the pitchman, but said he was due to have hip replacement surgery in the coming weeks.
Laura Brown, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said she did not know if Mays was wearing his seat belt on the flight because the FAA is not investigating his death.
U.S. Airways spokesman Jim Olson said there were no reports of serious injury due to the landing.
"If local authorities have any questions for us about yesterday's flight, we'll cooperate fully with them," he said.
Born William Mays in McKees Rocks, Pa., on July 20, 1958, Mays developed his style demonstrating knives, mops and other "As Seen on TV" gadgets on Atlantic City's boardwalk. For years he worked as a hired gun on the state fair and home show circuits, attracting crowds with his booming voice and genial manner.
AJ Khubani, founder and CEO of "As Seen on TV," said he first met Mays in the early 1990s when Mays was still pitching one of his early products, the Shammy absorbent cloth, at a trade fair. He said he most recently worked with Mays on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which follows Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.
"His innovative role and impact on the growth and wide acceptance of direct response television cannot be overestimated or easily replaced; he was truly one of a kind," Khubani said of Mays in a statement.
After meeting Orange Glo International founder Max Appel at a home show in Pittsburgh in the mid-1990s, Mays was recruited to demonstrate the environmentally friendly line of cleaning products on the St. Petersburg-based Home Shopping Network.
Commercials and informercials followed, anchored by the high-energy Mays showing how it's done while tossing out kitschy phrases like, "Long live your laundry!"
Sarah Ellerstein worked closely with Mays when she was a buyer for the Home Shopping Network in the 1990s and he was pitching Orange Glo products.
"Billy was such a sweet guy, very lovable, very nice, always smiling, just a great, great guy," she said, adding that Mays met his future wife at the network. "Everybody thinks because he's loud and boisterous on the air that that's the way he is, but I always found him to be a quiet, down-to-earth person."
His ubiquitousness and thumbs-up, in-your-face pitches won Mays plenty of fans for his commercials on a wide variety of products. People lined up at his personal appearances for autographed color glossies, and strangers stopped him in airports to chat about the products.
"I enjoy what I do," Mays told The Associated Press in a 2002 interview. "I think it shows."
Mays liked to tell the story of giving bottles of OxiClean to the 300 guests at his wedding, and doing his ad spiel ("powered by the air we breathe!") on the dance floor at the reception. Visitors to his house typically got bottles of cleaner and housekeeping tips.
As part of "Pitchmen," Mays and Sullivan showed viewers new gadgets such as the Impact Gel shoe insert; the Tool Band-it, a magnetized armband that holds tools; and the Soft Buns portable seat cushion.
"One of the things that we hope to do with 'Pitchmen' is to give people an appreciation of what we do," Mays told The Tampa Tribune in an April interview. "I don't take on a product unless I believe in it. I use everything that I sell."
His former wife, Dolores "Dee Dee" Mays, of McKees Rocks, Pa., recalled that the first product he sold was the Wash-matik, a device for pumping water from a bucket to wash cars.
"I knew him since he was 15, and I always knew he had it in him," she said of Mays' success. "He'll live on forever because he always had the biggest heart in the world. He loved his friends and family and would do anything for them. He was a generous soul and a great father."

Michael Jackson dies at age 50
'King of Pop' dies in LA
Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13. He was in rehearsals in Los Angeles for the concert, an extravaganza that was to capture the classic Jackson magic: showstopping dance moves, elaborate staging and throbbing dance beats.
Singer Dionne Warwick said: "Michael was a friend and undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers that I fortunately had the pleasure of working with. ... We have lost an icon in our industry."
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50. Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

How Experts Build Empires
All authors and info-marketers would like to see more sales of their information products -- but too often, they lack the necessary marketing skills or the time to more effectively market their titles. Many emerging experts discover that it takes time to build up your own list of customers, prospects and subscribers.
But when you do a joint-venture with someone else who endorses your products to their customers -- you get to tap into and leverage the time, effort and money they’ve spent over the years building their list and maintaining customer loyalty.
When adding joint ventures to your marketing mix, there are four major questions to consider: (1) how to find joint venture partners, (2) how to approach the other party, (3) what kinds of deals to make, and most importantly (4) what kinds of marketing campaigns to conduct with the names once you negotiate a joint-venture arrangement.
To begin with, there are three categories of businesses where you’ll find ideal joint venture partners -- (1) synergistic companies, (2) your competitors and (3) companies that are completely unrelated to you.
Start Building Your Empire Today
Let’s look at synergistic businesses first.
(1) “Synergistic companies” or businesses are those that already sell complementary type of information. What they’re selling is similar or complementary to what you are offering.
Let’s say you’re selling a system for advertising accounting services and you do a joint-venture with a company that provides continuing education credits for CPAs. In the United States, accountants and other types of professional practitioners are required to maintain a certain level of competency and skills, so they take classes locally or at conferences and earn what are called CEUs or continuing education units.
If you have an information product to help these CPAs bring more clients in the door, perhaps you could locate a company that provides CEU classes but doesn’t offer advertising, marketing and practice-building information as you do.
This would be a perfect company to do a joint venture with -- not only because they are acquiring new students on a regular basis, but because these students know them, trust them, see them as a source of expertise and would probably listen to any recommendations they might give about you and your product.
(2) The next big category of potential joint-venture partners is “competitive companies.” Think about it: At the same time your competitor is prospecting and selling new customers, some prospects are not buying anything. Similarly, customers who have already purchased everything your competitor has to offer may be no longer buying or subscribing.
If you can convince your competitor to promote your products to their non-converted leads or past customer names, that’s a phenomenal joint-venture opportunity for the both of you. You could make money, but also turn those names into revenue for your competitor who has most likely given up ever selling them something else.
(3) The last big category of company to look for is “completely unrelated companies.” These are situations to look for where the company isn’t providing anything similar to what you provide, but COULD provide it if you proved there would be value for their customers and prospects in doing so.
For example, perhaps you find a company who sells a money-making program that is vastly different from the income-generation training program you sell. You can still approach these companies to become a recommended second-income idea or an alternative to the one their prospects originally investigated.
To help you execute joint ventures with these three kinds of companies, start investigating professional schools, magazines, newsletters, corporations, speakers, radio talk shows, infomercial companies and other information outlets for possibilities.

FROM WIRE REPORTS
Richard Poplawski
By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI – 1 hour ago
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a man wearing a bulletproof vest opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call, killing three of them.
Police chief Nate Harper says the motive for Saturday's shooting isn't clear. Friends say the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and that he feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.
The three dead officers are Eric Kelly, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo III. Kelly had been on the force for 14 years and the other two only two years each. Another officer was shot in the hand and a fifth broke his leg on a fence.
The gunman, 23-year-old Richard Poplawski, was arrested after a four-hour standoff.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. Friends said he recently had been upset about losing his job and that he feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.
Neighbors described how a quiet street in the city's Stanton Heights neighborhood turned into a battlefield with hundreds of rounds cracking through the morning air and fallen police officers lying bleeding in the street, their colleagues unable to reach them.
Three officers were killed, said a police official at the scene who spoke on condition of anonymity because was not authorized to talk to the media. Police spokeswoman Diane Richard would only say that at least five officers were wounded, but wouldn't give any other details.
Friends identified the suspect as Richard Poplawski, 23, but police would not immediately confirm his name. The gunman was arrested after a four-hour standoff, police said.
The shooting occurred just two weeks after four police officers were fatally shot March 21 in Oakland, Calif., in the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since Sept. 11, 2001. The officers were the first Pittsburgh city officers to die in the line of duty in 18 years.
Neighbors said the shooting began at about 7 a.m. and that two officers were shot almost immediately.
"When I looked down I saw two police officers laying in the street," said Don Sand, who lives across the street and was awoken by the sound of gunfire.
A short time later, more officers, SWAT teams and other law enforcement arrived and a third officer was shot, Sand said.
"They couldn't get the scene secure enough to get to them. They were just lying there bleeding," Sand said. "By the time they secured the scene enough to get to them it was way too late."
Gail Moschetti, who lives diagonally across the street from the Poplawski house, said she heard hundreds of shots as she and her husband took refuge in their basement. Tom Moffitt, 51, a city firefighter who lives two blocks away, said he came to the scene and heard "hundreds, just hundreds of shots."
Police planned to release more details at a mid-afternoon news conference Saturday.
Edward Perkovic said Poplawski, his best friend, feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon." Another longtime friend, Aaron Vire, said Poplawski feared that President Barack Obama was going to take away his rights, though he said he "wasn't violently against Obama."
Perkovic, 22, said he got a call at work from him in which he said, "Eddie, I am going to die today. ... Tell your family I love them and I love you."
Perkovic said: "I heard gunshots and he hung up. ... He sounded like he was in pain, like he got shot."
Vire, 23, said Poplawski once had an Internet talk show but that it wasn't successful. Vire said Poplawski had an AK-47 rifle and several powerful handguns, including a .357 Magnum.
Another friend, Joe DiMarco, said Poplawski had been laid off from his job at a glass factory earlier this year. DiMarco said he didn't know the name of the company, but knew his friend had been upset about losing his job.
The last Pittsburgh police officers killed in the line of duty were Officers Thomas L. Herron and Joseph J. Grill, according to a Web site that tracks police killings. They died after their patrol car collided with another vehicle while chasing a stolen car on March 6, 1991.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 133 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2008, a 27 percent decrease from year before and the lowest annual total since 1960.
Poplawski had often fought with neighbors and had even gotten into fistfights with a couple, Sand said.
"This is a relatively really quiet neighborhood except for him," Sand said. "He was just one of those kids that we knew to stay clear from."
Rob Gift, 45, who lives a block away, said the well-kept single-family houses with manicured lawns are home to many police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other city workers.
"It's just a very quiet neighborhood," Gift said.

Blogging to the Bank
Blogging has been around for a few years now. Most people use blogs to record their thoughts and lives, while the select few use them as a free way to make a fortune.
One guy who uses this to his advantage is Rob Benwell. In 2006 he dished the dirt on the tips and tricks to making a fortune using blogging. But as time passes the old systems become obsolete and new techniques are required. This is where his brand new, fresh off the press Blogging to the Bank 3.0 system comes into play.
For those who know who Rob Benwell is like me, you’ve probably made a killing using blogs.
For those who don’t, he’s the story:
Back in 2005 he was struggling to make any profit online, had dropped out of college and was getting deep into debt. He was trying all the techniques the gurus tell you and wasn’t getting anywhere fast. All of that went in the bin and he started using his own techniques and started making more and more money using simple blogs. In early 2006 he shared this with the world and had a great ebook called blogging to the bank. Tons of people got rich from using these techniques (including me). He then spoke at Online Marketing Legend Yanik Silver’s underground Seminar where he revealed even more of his underground strategies. Then July 2007 he released Blogging to the Bank 2.0 which showed users his new methods to creating online wealth using blogs. In total both versions have been read by over 50,000 people across the world.
But as I said earlier, the techniques used in these ebooks are now showing there age. Some of them are not even working in the slightest! This is where blogging to the bank 3.0 comes into play.
It’s full of great new techniques that work online right now! Everything’s explained in plain English with all the fluff cut out. I got hold of an advanced copy of the book for a much higher price than what it actually sells for and it has been worth every single cent! I got it in the afternoon and by the evening I was creating new profitable blogs. Within a couple of hours of them being active I had made a nice little profit.
Blogging To The Bank 3.0 teaches you Robs new step by step blueprint to creating highly profitable long term niche blogs using the newest optimization techniques. There’s even a section on advanced Search Engine Optimization. Most people think SEO is difficult but Rob explains this nice and simply so even the blogging newbie will understand it.
Blogging To The Bank 3.0 is a breath of fresh air and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make easy money online.

Commission Blueprint
over the past few days and if you haven't heard
about it yet, let me just fill you in...
It's called the "Commission Blueprint" - a
radical formula created by Tim Godfrey and Steven
Clayton that exploits Clickbank and Google in
such a devious way that the resulting profits
are in the realms of the *insane*.
==> http://tinyurl.com/d45dt6
Of course, you will have heard this kinda' thing a
gazillion times before and to be perfectly honest so
have I...
But after checking this out, I can give you rock
solid confirmation that this is the real deal,
especially if you want to replicate a simple system
that generates MASSIVE Clickbank commissions.
Let me just throw some figures your way...
- $6,513.04 in one day
- $153,426.72 in 6 weeks
- $526,422.83 in 7 months.
...and the crazy thing is, these numbers were
generated by promoting ONE Clickbank product,
bidding on just ONE keyword...and without ANY
help from JV partners or even an email list!
...not to mention the fact that this simple
affiliate campaign took just a few minutes to
set up.
How was it done?
Check out the story here:
==> http://tinyurl.com/d45dt6
This is a VERY VERY different ball game...
In fact, if you've ever wondered why most affiliates
struggle to produce a red cent in profit whilst
others effortlessly rake in unfathomable Clickbank
commissions seemingly with their hands tied behind
their back, then sit up and take note, because you're
about to find out why.
----------------
The Best Thing?
----------------
You need no experience at all because they take you
through the entire process on screen AND give you
all the tools to actually make it happen.
----------------
The Weird Thing?
----------------
It's frankly bizarre that they're revealing this stuff.
If it were me, I would've kept my mouth FIRMLY shut
for sure.
These guys do 7 figures a year with Clickbank
consistently and generate far bigger numbers than
virtually anyone else on the planet.
Point being...if you're a suffering affiliate, you
NEED this material. Badly.
----------------
The Bad News...
----------------
There are only very limited spots available
and judging by how fast this has spread around
the net, they'll go ultra fast... possibly
in the next few hours.
It has literally just gone live though
so you should be in time...
End result?
Affiliates who FAIL to get hold of this
information will be left fighting for
scraps and ultimately will be in a world of
hurt from now on; that much I can assure you...
You can't afford to be left out of the loop with
this one...

What Is Success Anyway
We are all driven from a young age to succeed. It begins as
early as the first time that we roll over from our backs
onto our stomachs to prepare for crawling. As many progress
through their lives, the question "what is success anyway?"
is often asked.
To some success may mean graduating with a degree from a
prestigious university. To others, success may mean
committing to another person with feelings so intense that
they marry. To many, success means getting a high paying
job with benefits. So, what is success anyway? It is all of
these things, and absolutely none of these things.
Success is based on what you, as an individual, aspire to
do in life. In this guide to being successful, I will
expound on what success is, how you can achieve it, and
some different types of success that you can achieve in
life.
The Definition of Success
The definition of success is often difficult to explain.
For the purpose and intent of this guide, it is important
to understand that success is not the same for one as it is
for another.
Success occurs, however, in much the same way for everyone.
If one sets a particular goal - no matter how small or how
large - and they work to accomplish that goal and find
themselves experiencing a period of completion, then they
are considered to be successful. In other words, if you
start out with a specific intention and you follow that
intention through to the end to the point where you have
accomplished the intention, it is then that you are truly
successful.
How to Achieve Success
Many individuals spend quite a bit of time and quite a bit
of money looking for ways on how to achieve success. I am
here to tell you that it is not about reaching out for the
best products on success, hiring success experts, or
anything like that. You do not have to know the right type
of people to be successful; you must simply be the right
type of person - that's all! The following outlines some
simple steps that you can take in order to ensure success
in your life:
1. The first thing that you must do in order to achieve
success is to take total responsibility for you, and your
life. This means 100% - no less is acceptable. Many go
through life blaming people, events, and situations for
their lack of success. This is inappropriate. If you want
to be successful, then you have to accept the fact that it
is you that is responsible for you, what you experience,
and how much success you reel in throughout life.
2. The second thing that you must do in order to be
successful is to avoid excuses. Make a personal commitment
that you will never succumb to giving excuses for your
actions, or your lack thereof. You should view excuses as
nothing more than a rationalization of inactivity that
serves no purpose other than convincing you that you are
not directly responsible for the events and situations that
transpire in your life. Excuses are morale killers. They
will bring you down more than they will build you up.
3. The next step to experiencing true success in your life
is to change the way that you perceive the "negative"
people, events, and situations in your life. My philosophy
when it comes to the negative that I experience in life is
that there is always a positive. We would never learn if we
were not faced with challenges. We could never appreciate
the positive if we do not experience the negative. There is
a learning experience in absolutely everything so it is
important to focus your thoughts in this manner.
Types of Success
I could name many different types of success that
individuals all throughout history have experienced. Many
have proven successful in:
- Inventions
- Relationships
- Goal Setting
- Mechanics
- Writing
- Dealing with People
- Having Children
- Graduating from College
- And, more!
The truth is, success is nothing more than becoming a
master. It is about setting a goal and seeing it through to
the point of achievement. Success is about being who you
are, and going for the things that you want in life. There
are many different types of success that you can experience
in life, but no one can determine what you do with your
life, but you.
In Conclusion
When asking "what is success anyway?" you must take a look
at who you are, you must take responsibility for who you
are, and you must eliminate all excuses for why you cannot
do one thing or another. You must know and understand that
excuses are nothing more than a rationalization for
inactivity and you must take the necessary steps to go past
that lack of activity. You must set goals and see them
through to the end. When you accomplish this task that is
when you can say that you are successful.

Kristin Davis Madam
"In regard to Alex, all I can say is our paths have definitely crossed personally and professionally," former madam Kristin Davis told the New York Daily News.
Spitzer, who resigned in disgrace, was referred to as "Client No. 9" by the call-girl ring's bookers. A-Rod, who is currently in Vail, Colo., rehabbing after hip surgery, wears uniform No. 13.
In another report Sunday on the New York Post's Web site, Davis, 32, said of A-Rod: "I'm not going to deny there was a relationship there. Let's just say there's some sort of connection there."
The Daily News story also included steamy e-mails purportedly between Davis and Rodriguez. When confronted with the e-mails, Davis told the newspaper: "Other people have access to my client records as well as my personal information and I can't control what has been released."

Radio newsman George Weber was found stabbed to death in his Brooklyn apartment this morning, cops said.
Weber, a radio anchor at ABC News who was a longtime newsman at WABC radio before being laid off last year, was found just after 9 a.m. when friends told cops he hadn't shown up for work.
Police believe he died Friday evening, based on the condition of the body.
Weber, 57, was found in his bed with several stab wounds in his neck and upper torso.
The brownstone apartment along Henry Street in Cobble Hill had been ransacked. There was no sign of forced entry, and no weapon was recovered.
Calling himself "the news guy," Weber maintained a lively blog and his last entry, a rant about his battles with bedbugs, was posted Friday morning.
Weber, a Pennyslvania native, worked his way up in the radio business, paying his dues at KIMN, KOA and KTLK in Denver, KMPC and KABC in Los Angeles, KGO in San Francisco and KOGO in San Diego.
He spent nearly a decade at WABC before being laid off a year ago, and he had been working as a radio anchor at ABC NEWS.

NCAA Hockey
When the pairings for the 2009 NCAA men's hockey tournament were announced on ESPN2 Sunday morning, the No. 1 seeds went to -- in order -- Boston University (Northeast), Notre Dame (Midwest), Denver (West) and Michigan (East).
The automatic bids for this year's tournament went to the conference champions from Atlantic Hockey (Air Force), College Hockey America (Bemidji State), CCHA (Notre Dame), ECAC (Yale), Hockey East (BU) and the WCHA (Minnesota-Duluth). The Bulldogs from Duluth were the only tournament champion that didn't double as a conference regular-season champion.
The 10 at-large bids went to Cornell, Denver, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Northeastern, Ohio State, Princeton and Vermont.
Defending champion Boston College (18-14-5), which lost to BU in the Hockey East semifinals, failed to qualify for the tournament, while Northeastern and Yale will be making their first NCAA tournament appearances since 1994 and 1998 respectively.
Michigan will be making its 19th consecutive NCAA appearance, the longest active streak, and the Wolverines now tie Minnesota for most overall tournament appearances with 32. Michigan also has won the most NCAA championships with nine, but Red Berenson's team hasn't won a title since 1998. A pair of consecutive appearance streaks was broken when Minnesota (8) and Boston College (6) didn't qualify for the field of 16.
Regional play begins Friday and Saturday in Bridgeport, Conn. (East Regional), Grand Rapids, Mich. (Midwest), Manchester, N.H. (Northeast) and Minneapolis (West). By next Sunday night the Frozen Four field will be determined and then played at Washington, D.C.'s Verizon Center on April 9 (ESPN2) and 11 (ESPN).
The conference breakdown for the tournament has four teams from the CCHA and Hockey East, three teams from ECAC and the WCHA and one each from Atlantic Hockey and College Hockey America.
Boston University (31-6-4) comes into the NCAA tournament on a 20-2-3 run since the calendar turned to January. And the Terriers are 13-0-2 in their last 15 games on the road or at neutral sites, with the last loss away from Agganis Arena coming way back on Nov. 14 at UMass in Amherst.
All of which would make anything but a deep run in the NCAA tournament for Boston University, which hasn't won a national title since 1995 or made an appearance in the Frozen Four since 1997, a bitter pill to swallow. In order to play on the final weekend of the college hockey season, the Terriers will need to beat Ohio State and then the winner of North Dakota-New Hampshire -- keeping in mind that the Fighting Sioux have made four consecutive Frozen Four appearances and that the Northeast Regional is being played at the Wildcats' home away from home in Manchester.
"If we don't get to the Final Four, if we don't have a chance to win something bigger I think this still might be a bit of a disappointing season because comparatively speaking we're pretty good vis a vis the rest of the nation," BU coach Jack Parker said. "But unfortunately right now we're not playing as well as we were playing a month ago and that's what I'm concerned about."

Marcus Jordan and his teammates celebrated on the court after the final buzzer, Michael Jordan, clapping his hands with tears in his eyes.
Michail Jordan said in response to reporter's question. Crying. Not for me, anyway."
Marcus Jordan was the key down the stretch after his two teammates fouled out, hitting four for four free throws in the final three minutes to victory.
"Awesome," Marcus Jordan said. "Just awesome."
Co-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, Michael Jordan, skipped his team's loss to Indiana, just so he could attend his son's game. And with out regret. Jordan's other son, Jeff Jordan, plays basketball for the University of Illinois.

Flex Jobs
Kings County community college campus to host event
By IAN FAIRCLOUGH Valley Bureau
Wed. Mar 18 - 5:36 AM
KENTVILLE — A job fair here today will introduce people seeking employment to about 200 positions available in the Kings County area, which has been hard hit by job losses over the past couple of months.
The Kings Community Economic Development Agency is hosting the fair at the Nova Scotia Community College’s Kingstec campus.
The full-day event starts with information sessions for job seekers between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Colby Clarke, a development officer with the agency, said the sessions will include information on employment insurance programs, health plan coverage and other issues facing people dealing with unemployment.
From noon to 7 p.m., more than a dozen employers with job openings will be on hand to let job seekers know about these positions.
"Some have a pretty significant number of jobs," Mr. Clarke said. "There are 200 positions available; that’s a pretty good number for these days."
The jobs include full- and part-time employment and seasonal work. Mr. Clarke said even a six-month job could be enough to give some people the "buffer zone" they need for better EI benefits.
Employers with jobs on offer include Larsens, Frito Lay, call centre Online Support, seniors facilities, and some trades.
He said a group of seniors facilities is also receiving funds to train continuing care assistants.
"We’re doing what we can so people are aware of the options that are out there," Mr. Clarke said.
He said the last time the agency held a job fair like this was two years ago, when Maple Leaf Foods closed its chicken-processing plant in Canard.
More than 700 people turned out for those sessions.
This one was organized in the wake of more job losses in the Valley.
About 300 people lost their jobs last month when ACA Cooperative closed its Eastern Protein chicken plant in Kentville and cut more jobs at its main plant in New Minas. KLJ Field Services, a Windsor call centre, closed at the cost of 90 jobs and Michelin laid off 95 flex workers at its Waterville plant.

Avoid Paying More, Stay In The Know About Credit Card Matters
The current economic crisis is having a measurable affect on credit card companies, causing the industry as a whole to make changes as they struggle to maintain fiscal health and viability. What that means for the consumer is they will have to be vigilant in watching for how those changes will affect the cost of their credit.
According to a recent CNNMoney.com report, Capital One, a major credit card issuer, its number of loans that it doesn’t expect to be able to collect rose significantly during the month of January, a trend that most credit card issuers have been seeing. With personal bankruptcy on the rise, according to data from CardTrak.com, “rising 29% from one year ago and 11% sequentially,” it comes as no surprise that credit card issuers are seeing more delinquent accounts and feeling the pain of decreased revenue as consumers simply spend less.
In fact, according to a March 16, 2009, report in the Daily Herald, “Discover follows rival credit-card lender American Express Co. in becoming a bank so it could gain access to federal rescue funds.” Discover is said to have received “about $1.2 billion in cash from the Treasury to boost liquidity.”
These poor credit card performance numbers mean that credit card companies feel hard-pressed to make changes to try to cover losses and lower revenues. And, typically, those changes involve increasing the cost of credit, particularly for struggling consumers that under the strain of the current economic situation, including such factors as rising unemployment and a higher cost of living, may have seen a once strong credit rating fall downwards towards the bad credit category.
However, even those with good credit, people making their payments on time, are starting to feel the pinch as credit card companies change policies and rates seemingly out of the blue. That is why it is so important to keep up to date with credit card matters. An informed consumer won’t be caught by surprise with changes in rates, fees or other terms and conditions and also will know how to respond if such issues arise.
For example, according to a recent SmartMoney.com article republished on Yahoo Finance, “risk-averse card issuers are getting slash happy. And while many cardholders gripe that such cuts slice razor-close to their balance amounts, for an unfortunate few the cuts go far deeper: below what they currently owe.” As pointed out in the article, “Federal Reserve rules requiring lenders to give cardholders 45 days notice before reducing a credit line to the point that it would trigger penalties won’t go into effect until July 2010,” making this sort of fee-harvesting behavior perfectly legal right now.
On March 15, 2009, USA Today reported that “a growing number of banks are raising credit card fees or rolling out new fees to offset record delinquencies and rising charge-offs.” Many credit card companies have increased late fees and some have added fees to cards with a low interest rate, including Chase, which recently tagged a $120 fee onto some of its low interest cards.
Chase also has added a $10 per month fee to consumers carrying large balances and not paying them down at a sufficient rate and has raised the monthly minimum payment from 2 percent to 5 percent of the balance. Wells Fargo customers using their credit cards at a branch bank to get cash will now pay $20, and the ATM fee to do so will increase from $5 to $10. A Citigroup cardholder can see their interest rate shoot to almost 30 percent if they miss just one payment. Stories of surprise interest rate hikes on customers that haven’t even missed or been late with a payment are numerous.
Those are just a few of the current changes in credit card fees, rates, terms and conditions and consumers can probably expect more in the near future. If a sudden change does occur, one that a consumer believes is unjustified by their repayment performance and credit standing, a consumer can call the credit card company and try to negotiate more favorable terms, presenting their individual case. Even though times are tough in the credit card industry, a consumer who takes the time to contact their credit card company, working their way up the supervisor and account managing latter if need be, still stands a good chance at coming out with a favorable outcome.
These sometimes abrupt credit card term and condition changes have not gone unnoticed by lawmakers already casting a watchful eye on how credit card companies operate. As reported in the LA Times on March 15, 2009, “since the beginning of the year, millions of credit card customers have been hit with higher interest rates — in many cases from lenders that have received billions of dollars in bailout cash from taxpayers. Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont independent, responded last week with legislation that would impose a 15% cap on rates for all consumer loans, including plastic.”
Knowing what is going on in the credit card industry is especially important these days, as credit card companies throughout the nation try to recoup their losses and reduced revenue from the consumer, often through practices that many find unfair, even abusive. Keep a close eye on your statements and carefully read any communication you receive from your credit card company. Take prompt action if you feel you are being treated unfairly and don’t be afraid to demand to speak supervisors, working your way up the chain of command as high as you need to. Being an informed consumer can save you money.

Owen Benjamin Christina Ricci Engaged!
Inside Christina Ricci's Crazy Engagement Party!
Today 12:28 PM PDT by Ted Casablanca
Christina Ricci's gonna need an incredibly small bridal gown tailored to fit her diminutive size—as we've exclusively learned that the actress is engaged to her comedian boyfriend Owen Benjamin. (Calls to her reps, asking for official confirmation, have not yet been returned.)
The two babes of way disproportionate height met on set of their movie All's Faire in Love and went public with their relationship last October. Might seem pretty quick to get hitched, but not in T-town!
Congrats to the cute couple! Now check out the deets of their engagement party, and how Ricci couldn't keep her cool at her own celebration:
Our source was partying at the Palihouse in West Hollywood last Saturday night with his pals next door to the Ricci/Benjamin bash. He briefly spoke to Owen himself, who confirmed it was his engagement party, while Ricci and the couple's cohorts were in the room engaging in all types of typical late-night H-wood hotel room behavior.
Our source lost an amigo at his shindig, and called the dude's phone looking for him. Looks like somebody snuck into the wrong fete, since it was Christina Ricci who answered on the other line!
Acting out-of-it from indulging in silliness more appropriate for a bachelorette party, not an engagement soiree, CR started screaming she would "call the f—-cking cops" if our source kept calling her—even 'tho it wasn't her phone! Who knew such feisty things came in tiny packages?
Eventually our source's friend returned, confirming an oddly behaving Christina indeed snatched his cell—which she eventually gave back. Maybe she learned a thing from Lindsay nabbing that fur coat?
He was super pissed, but we think it's hysterical. Good luck with that, Owen!

Apple Brings Copy/Paste To iPhone In 3.0 Update
In a press event held Tuesday at Apple's Cupertino, Calif.-based headquarters, executives offered a look at some of the more than 1,000 new APIs in the iPhone 3.0 software development kit, which opens new avenues for applications that use streaming audio, and video, maps and games.
Greg Joswiak, vice president of product marketing for iPods and iPhones, said Apple sold 13.7 million iPhones in 2008, and there are 17 million iPhones currently in use. He also revealed that Apple has sold 13 million iPod Touch devices to date, which pushes the total of Apple multitouch devices to 30 million.
With around 800 million apps downloaded to date, the App Store's runaway popularity shows no signs of slowing. More than 50,000 companies are currently enrolled in Apple's iPhone Developer Program, and 80 percent of them are newcomers to the mobile application development space, Joswiak said.
Apple developers have been clamoring for alternative sales methods, and with the iPhone 3.0 SDK, they'll be able to create apps that let users purchase new content -- such as additional game levels -- from within an application, said iPhone software vice president Scott Forstall.
For example, developers can build geographic applications that include regional "city packs," Forstall said. The revenue split for purchases taking place with applications will be the same as with the App Store: 70 percent for developers, 30 percent for Apple.
iPhone 3.0 also includes an API that enables developers to embed multitouch-enabled maps into their applications; a new API for streaming audio and video; and an API for voice audio in games, according to Forstall. iPhone 3.0 also brings Spotlight's global search capabilities to the iPhone for the first time.
Apple has spent the last six months completely redesigning the server for push notifications, another new feature in iPhone 3.0 that makes it possible to push badges, text and sounds, Forstall said. Push notifications, which Apple was expected to include last September in the iPhone 2.2 update, enables iPhone apps to continuously receive messages from the network, even when they're not running.
The iPhone 3.0 developer beta is available now, and Apple will release iPhone 3.0 sometime this summer as a free update for iPhone 3G users. iPod Touch users will have to pay $9.95 for the iPhone 3.0 update.

Natasha Richardson Skiing Accident

Actress believed to be hospitalized in Montreal

Richardson’s husband, Liam Neeson, left a Toronto movie shoot for Atom Egoyan's "Chloe" to be at her side in Montreal, the CTV network reported.
Richardson suffered her injuries while skiing at Mont Tremblant in Quebec and is believed to be at the Hospital du Sacre-Coeur in Montreal.
"We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details," said Kika Markham, who is married to Richardson's uncle, Corin Redgrave. "We are very concerned."
Mont Tremblant said Richardson fell on a beginners trail during a ski lesson and later reported not felling well.
The ski resort said the ski instructor and a ski patrol accompanied Richardson to her hotel, where they again recommended she should be seen by a doctor.
"Approximately an hour after the incident Mrs. Richardson was not feeling good," the statement said.
Mont Tremblant spokeswoman Catherine Lacasse said Richardson was getting a private lesson and that she said she was fine at first.
"An hour later she said she didn't feel well. She had a headache, so we sent her to the hospital," Lacasse said. "There were no signs of impact and no blood, nothing."
An ambulance was called and Richardson was brought to the Center Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe and was later transferred to Hopital du Sacre-Coeur in Montreal. An employee at Hopital du Sacre-Coeur in Montreal said they didn't have a Richardson at the hospital after intiailly saying they did early Tuesday.
Richardson, 45, is the daughter of British actress Vanessa Redgrave and director Tony Richardson.

St. Patrick s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is for all of us
By Chad Wisinger
For the Journal-Constitution
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
“The truth shall set you free.” This biblical injunction was honored in the lives of Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. Although both men deserve immense gratitude for their contributions to freedom, another name deserves to be on that list: St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, whose holiday is celebrated today throughout the world by people who often have little understanding of all that he stood for and accomplished.
As a teenager, Patrick was captured by Irish raiders and taken into slavery. In despair, Patrick turned to intense prayer as a means of achieving tranquility. Six years later he escaped his captors. Patrick’s suffering left him with a desire to end the practice of slavery and to spread the truths of his religion.
These convictions were so deep that he voluntarily returned years later to share his convictions with the Irish. Despite the fact that his letters express a concern for the victims of slavery, it is also likely that Patrick worked directly with the leaders of the slave trade to persuade them of the evils of their awful practice.
St. Patrick’s heroic story continues to resonate down through the ages over 15 centuries after his death. His battle to overcome slavery, oppression and personal hardship serves as a moral lesson for freedom-loving people everywhere. St. Patrick’s battle against slavery also reminds us how much the Irish have overcome on the way to achieving political freedom and their own cultural identity.
From 1641 to 1652, more than 550,000 Irish were killed by the English and 300,000 were forced to live as near slaves within their own country. Eventually Oliver Cromwell’s army completed the British colonization of Ireland.
Far from compromising their Irish heritage, however, the bitterness left by the Cromwellian invasion inspired a strong sense of Irish nationalism that endured for another three hundred years. Irish perseverance during the British occupation served as a ringing declaration of fortitude in the face of suffering.
The same fortitude and cultural cohesion also sustained the Irish during the massive emigration from their homeland that took place following the Great Irish Famine. In the mid-1840s, the potato crop that the Irish depended on as their main source of food was attacked by a terrible fungus. Two million people were swept away by disease and hunger. Another two million fled for the land of freedom, America.
Although they came for a life of abundance, they lived in squalor. As competitors for jobs, the Irish were hated by American workers. “No Irish Need Apply” was a sign that was so common it was often abbreviated as “NINA.” Since jobs outside of construction were hard to find, these impoverished Gaels lived in the crowded immigrant ghettos of the Northeast. Mortality rates were high. If the agrarian roots of the Irish scarcely equipped them for economic survival in American cities, their cultural heritage instilled in them a stubborn resistance to their new foes. They relied on solidarity to survive.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians, a nationalist society formed in Ireland, helped the Irish maintain a sense of their own pride and dignity. For Irishmen in nineteenth century America, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day was not just a way to escape the horrors of their existence in the New World, but a means of holding on to who they really were.
In fact, the holiday was celebrated with greater fervor here than in Ireland as Irish immigrants used it to boost their distinctive identity and morale.
Today, St. Patrick’s Day not only honors Irish contributions to America, but celebrates the glory of American diversity. Those who are not Irish are encouraged to join in the celebration as a reminder of the battle all newcomers face in finding their rightful place as Americans. St. Patrick’s Day belongs to the Italians, the African-Americans, the Jews, the Arabs, the Hispanics, the Germans, the Chinese and all other immigrants who have fought to win their own place under America’s sun.
St. Patrick’s pursuit of freedom epitomizes a basic American ideal, namely that an outsider, an outcast and even a one-time vagabond, by working hard and living responsibly, can achieve the American Dream.
